i'm sure many have already seen the information regarding the COD: Elite. You can sign up for the beta here:http://www.callofduty.com/elite

Seems that this will be what Bungie.net has for the Halo fans to look a little more in depth at stats and communicate with friends, BUT if you want to participate in the Elite program it seems there will be a monthly fee associated with it. Now this won't prevent you from being able to play MP or enjoy it, but I'm sure it will have some bearing on the gameplay.

It will be interesting to see how it's rolled out and if it will really be good enough to warrant a monthly fee. If nothing else sign up for the Beta and take it for a test drive...

I think the move is towards a monthly fee for more and more games. All of the companies see the lure of that continuous profit stream. It may not be a bad thing if the game is good and new content is added regularly. But I gotta admit, I hate the idea of another subscription service fee. Sad

I agree I think more games will start to probably have features like this added but for that Fee there def needs to be some good data/content for it. I mean if you go through your Gamer Card in black ops you can get a lot of useful info but the Elite is supposed to make that more streamlined and easier to read from what it seems right now..

If the paid content is of genuinely high quality, I'm okay with that. But paying more bucket loads of crappy stuff or junk content will drive people away in droves. If they're going to charge for stuff, it's *gotta* be top-notch.

I think this pay-as-you-go model is going to be the way they all do it eventually. We'll own nothing and basically be forced to rent the game by the hour or by the byte as we play. They want us to pay for every bullet we shoot.
